Design & Build

This jacket is made from lambskin that has been used before. It has never been worn as a garment, but the hide itself is reclaimed and refinished rather than new. We say that plainly because it is the reason this B3 costs $210 instead of $350.

What that means in practice: the outside is indistinguishable from new leather. The inner fur lining will vary slightly in colour and texture from jacket to jacket, because reclaimed hide does not come in perfectly matched batches. The visible fur, at the collar and cuffs, is consistent.

The construction is not cut back to match the price. Seams are Goodyear welted, which is a shoemaking technique: the panels are stitched to a welt strip rather than directly to each other, so a failed seam can be repaired instead of writing off the jacket. Almost nobody does this on outerwear.

A double buckle closes the neck, tighter than a single strap manages. The zip is YKK brass. Two front pockets and adjustable belt straps at the waist.

Frequently asked questions

What does reclaimed lambskin mean?
The hide has been used before and refinished. The jacket itself has never been worn. We are upfront about it because it is why this B3 is cheaper than our new hide versions.

Will it look worn?
No. The outside is refinished and indistinguishable from new leather. The inner fur lining varies slightly in colour and texture between jackets, since reclaimed hide does not arrive in matched batches.

So my jacket will not exactly match the photo?
The visible fur at the collar and cuffs will match. The lining inside may be a slightly different shade. If you want an exact match to the photograph, choose one of our new hide B3s instead.

What is a Goodyear welt?
A construction method borrowed from shoemaking. Panels are stitched to a welt strip rather than to each other, so a failed seam can be repaired without writing off the jacket. Very few makers do this on outerwear.

Why a double buckle at the neck?
Two buckles close the collar tighter than one manages, which matters at speed when a single strap tends to let the fur gape.

Is it as warm as your other B3s?
Close. The pattern is the same. Our heavier B3s use a 15mm lining, so they are warmer still.

How do I care for it?
Keep it dry where you can and let it air after wearing. Wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Do not machine wash. Condition the shell once a year.
