Design & Build

The collar strap is the reason this works on a bike rather than just in photographs. A B3 collar is wide and heavy, and left loose it flaps open the moment you pick up speed, which defeats the point of having it. The buckle pulls it closed across your throat and holds it there.

It was on the wartime originals for that exact reason. Most modern versions drop it because a working buckle costs money to fit, and you find out it is missing the first cold morning you ride.

The shell is 100% genuine sheepskin leather. The lining is faux shearling, which keeps the weight down. That trade-off matters more on a women's cut than a men's, because a real shearling B3 is a heavy garment and the weight lands across narrower shoulders.

Why faux rather than real shearling?
Weight and price. A real shearling B3 is considerably heavier, and on a women's cut that weight lands badly across the shoulders.

What does the collar buckle do?
It pulls the wide B3 collar closed across your throat and holds it there. Without one the collar flaps open at speed.

How is this different from your other women's aviator?
That one has buckles at both the collar and the hem. This one has the collar buckle only, which is why it costs less.

How do I care for sheepskin leather?
Keep it dry where you can and let it air after wearing. Wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Do not machine wash. Condition the shell once a year.
