Design & Build

Mid brown is the version to buy if you want the jacket to be visible. It sits lighter than our dark brown puffer, so the quilting lines catch the light and read clearly instead of disappearing into the leather. On a quilted jacket the stitch pattern is most of the design, and a lighter hide is what lets you see it.

The distressed finish then breaks that up. Without it a mid brown puffer can look too new, almost plasticky. The distressing puts wear into the shoulders and edges from day one, so the jacket reads as worn rather than bought.

Insulation is polyester rather than goose down. It is not as warm gram for gram, but it keeps working when it gets damp and needs no specialist cleaning. Down collapses when wet and does nothing until it dries. If you ride in rain, synthetic is the sensible choice.

Hardware is antique brass, which suits brown far better than chrome does, and it deepens with age instead of flaking. YKK zips on the front and on both hand pockets. Interior chest pockets and a full polyester lining.
