The finish is the draw. This is a distressed brown — a hand-rubbed antique effect where the high points wear lighter and the seams and edges hold a darker tan, so every coat looks broken in from day one and keeps ageing from there. The shell is genuine cowhide, substantial and structured, cut to a longer car-coat length that falls past the hip.

The front is single-breasted with a row of leather-covered buttons and a pointed shirt collar that sits flat or turns up against the wind. Two slanted welt pockets sit at the hip, set into the leather rather than patched on, keeping the lines clean. A seam across the waist shapes the coat so it hangs straight rather than boxy.
