Design & Build

Blue is the reason to look at this one. Café racer jackets come in black, and occasionally brown. Nevada Blue and Greyish Blue are not colours you will find on a rack of biker jackets, and the distressed finish stops the blue reading as costume, it looks like a jacket that has been somewhere.

The finish is rub-off distressed, then washed and waxed. Rub-off means the top colour is deliberately worn back at the edges and high points so the tone underneath shows through. The wash-and-wax afterwards is what makes it soft: this jacket does not have the board-stiff first month most new leather puts you through.

The hide is sheep nappa, lighter and more supple than cowhide, which suits a jacket cut this close.

Diamond quilted panels sit across the shoulders and on top of the cuffs. On the shoulders that is where a jacket takes the most sun and rubbing; the quilting adds a second layer exactly there. Tab collar with a button so it can be worn open or closed at the throat. Adjustable tabs at the waist and cuffs pull the fit in so the jacket does not balloon at speed.

How it is worn

Plain white or grey tee, dark denim, boots. Blue leather is doing enough on its own, so keep the rest quiet. Nevada Blue is the brighter of the two; Greyish Blue is the one that reads almost neutral until you are close.

Is it stiff when it arrives?
No. The leather is washed and waxed after finishing, so it is soft and supple from the first wear rather than needing a month of breaking in.
