The Blacktop Gear Brown B3 Aviator is a men's flying jacket in 100% genuine leather with a faux shearling lining and a wide shearling collar. Brown. Handmade to order in sizes S to 5XL at $279 with free delivery within the USA.
Design & Build
The collar is wide, and on a B3 that is the point rather than a detail. A narrow collar looks like a bomber with fur trim. A wide one stands up around your neck and closes the gap where wind gets in first, which is what the pattern was designed to do in an unheated cockpit.
Brown is the traditional B3 colour and it earns its place here. Brown leather shows grain and picks up wear at the cuffs and elbows, so the jacket looks better in three years than it does new. Black stays flat and even.
The lining is faux shearling rather than real wool. That is a deliberate trade. Real shearling is warmer and considerably heavier, and it needs specialist cleaning. Faux keeps most of the warmth, drops a good deal of the weight, and you can look after it yourself.
The shell is 100% genuine leather.

How it is worn
Over a heavy knit, with indigo denim and brown boots. Brown is warm in tone so it wants warm colours around it, cream and olive rather than black. Collar up in wind, folded down otherwise.
