The Blacktop Gear Quilted Leather Puffer is a men's padded jacket in 100% genuine lambskin with polyester down insulation, antique brass hardware and YKK zips throughout. It is the entry point into our puffer range at $180. Handmade to order in sizes S to 6XL, with free delivery within the USA.

Design & Build

This is the plainest of our quilted puffers and the cheapest, and the two facts are connected. There is no distressed finish here, so the leather arrives clean and even. Some people want a jacket that already looks worn. Others want to do that themselves over a few years. If you are the second kind, this is the one to buy.

The shell is 100% genuine lambskin, the softest of the common hides. That matters more on a padded jacket than a plain one. A stiff hide fights the loft of the fill and the whole thing feels like a shell rather than a jacket. Lambskin moves with the quilting.

Insulation is polyester rather than goose down. It is not as warm gram for gram, but it keeps insulating when it gets damp and needs no specialist cleaning. Down collapses when wet and stops working until it dries out, which is a real problem on a bike.

Antique brass hardware, YKK zips on the front and both hand pockets, interior chest pockets and a full polyester lining.

It has no distressed finish. The hide, the fill, the hardware and the zips are the same. You are paying less for a plainer surface.

Is this goose down or synthetic?

Keep it dry where you can and let it air after wearing. Wipe marks with a barely damp cloth. Do not machine wash. Condition the shell once a year.
