Design & Build

Suede is the unusual choice here and it changes how the vest wears. Suede is the flesh side of the hide brushed up, so it has a soft nap instead of a smooth surface. It is quieter than finished leather, does not shine in sunlight, and takes on a lived in look far faster.

The trade off is worth knowing before you buy. Suede marks more easily than a sealed finish and it does not like being soaked. If you ride in heavy rain most weeks, a finished leather vest is the more practical choice.

The hook and clip closure keeps the front panel clean. There are no snap heads sitting proud to catch on a tank bag or scratch paintwork, and clips work one handed in gloves in a way a zip does not.

Braided leather trim runs around the edges. Real leather braid, which wears in and darkens alongside the suede rather than splitting the way PU cord does after a season.

Adjustable side laces let the vest out for a hoodie in winter and pull it in over a tee in summer. Multiple pockets for everyday carry.

How does suede compare to normal leather?
Suede is the flesh side of the hide brushed up, so it has a soft matte nap instead of a smooth surface. It is quieter, does not shine, and looks lived in faster. It also marks more easily and does not like getting soaked.

Will it get ruined in rain?
Light rain is fine. Let it dry naturally away from heat and brush the nap back up afterwards. Do not soak it, and treat it with a suede protector before first wear if you ride in wet weather often.

Is the braiding real leather?
Yes. PU cord looks similar when new and splits within a season. Real leather braid wears in alongside the suede.

How do I clean suede?
Brush with a suede brush in one direction. For marks, use a suede eraser. Never use water or leather conditioner, because both flatten the nap.

How much do the side laces let out?
Enough to go from wearing it over a t-shirt to over a hoodie.

Can I add club patches?
Yes, the back panel is patch ready. Bear in mind that removing a patch from suede leaves a visible mark where the nap has been compressed.
