Design & Build

Natural cowhide is the point of this one. Undyed leather starts pale tan and darkens on its own, sunlight, oils from your hands, weather. Two riders can buy this vest the same week and own visibly different vests within a year. A black vest looks the same on day one and year five; this one keeps a record.

Orange stitching on natural hide is a deliberately warm combination. It works because both tones move in the same direction as the leather ages: the tan deepens, the orange settles into it. On black leather orange shouts; on natural it sits.

Two snap-down chest pockets on the front, useful for a phone or a wallet, and the snaps mean nothing works its way out on a rough road.

The mesh lining has access panels so patches can be sewn on properly: needle through the leather, thread caught behind, panel closed. On a fully lined vest you either see the stitching inside or pay a shop to unpick it. Mesh also means airflow, so this works through summer.

How riders wear it

What is natural cowhide?
Undyed leather. It starts pale tan and darkens on its own from sunlight, handling and weather, so it ends up unique to the person wearing it.

Will it stain?
It marks more readily than dyed leather, and those marks become part of the finish rather than damage. If you would rather it stayed even, a leather protector applied before first wear slows the process.

Is this the same as your green cross stitch vest?
Same build and the same mesh patch lining, but that one is black hide with green stitching. This is natural undyed hide with orange, and it has two snap-down chest pockets.

What are the lining access panels for?

Is mesh lining warm enough?
It is not meant to be. Mesh moves air, which makes this a summer-capable vest. Layer it over a hoodie when it cools down.
